Austin Morel

Part-Time Classroom Teacher

Austin got his start as an educator by teaching guitar in Washington, DC. After that, he shifted into early childhood education and loved it!  His first experience in a Reggio-inspired school was near Rock Creek Park in DC, where the children frequently hiked and enjoyed picnics.  So many projects emerged from the sticks and rocks they discovered at the park. 

Austin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Music from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  He moved back to NC to be closer to family.   

Austin believes children can teach us just as much as we teach them.

Fun Facts:

• Austin has never broken a bone, even though he skateboarded for years.
• Austin plays classical guitar and piano; he likes to compose music in his spare time.
• Austin hiked to the top of a 14,000-foot mountain peak in Colorado.
