Andrew Reckard
Preschool Classroom Teacher
Andrew found his way to Wildflower after a decade of teaching middle school in various school districts. He is excited to exchange test scores and hall passes for curiosity and play. Andrew believes that children — like all of us — deserve to be loved and valued not for their future potential, but for who they are right now. He is guided by his own loving educators—his sisters, parents, grandparents, friends, and partner.
Andrew believes learning is a journey of discovery that adults and children take together. He holds a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and looks forward to working in a setting that celebrates the languages children already speak. Andrew enjoys watching movies and being outdoors. It’s a good bet that on any given day, you can find him at the Eno River or the Carolina Theater.
Fun Fact:
- Andrew is undefeated at the limbo!
- Andrew can ride a unicycle.
There is so much love
in consistently asking,
“Who are you now?”
There is so much love
in letting our loved ones
be continually new to us.
To love someone isn’t so much
to know them, as it is to know
their never-ending becoming.
