In the state of North Carolina, licensed childcare programs are assigned a star rating between 1 and 5 stars. Star ratings reflect the program’s compliance history, the level of Early Childhood Education achieved by staff, and various program standards (square footage per child, teacher-child ratio, maximum group size, and results of Environment Rating Scales assessments).
Wildflower Cottage for Children, like all newly licensed programs, held a Temporary License during the initial 6 months after opening. In July 2017—only 6 months after our Grand Opening—we were awarded with a 5-star license!
Although we are delighted about this achievement, we are over the moon about the unique elements of our program not measured by the Environment Rating Scales.
