Lyla Kolman

Sometimes Teacher

Lyla grew up in the Chapel Hill, NC area. As a lover of learning who never felt engaged by “traditional” school settings, she is thrilled to be a new member of the Wildflower Cottage team where children can be active, inquisitive, self-driven learners.

Lyla received a degree in Community Building and Youth Empowerment from Hampshire College in 2016, and has focused her work on helping children and families recognize their own power to be and express themselves. This work has offered her opportunities to build connections with people of all ages and backgrounds, including infants, youth in foster care, mothers in recovery, and seniors. She finds immense joy in connecting with and learning from the wisdom of young people, and hopes to spread this joy as a member of the Wildflower community.

“We are all meant to shine, as children do…
As we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
– Marianne Williamson
